From elevator speech to finished Journey Take Action Project.
Hello, my name is Lauryn.
The issue I hope to address is that people spend too much time on screens when they can be trying new activities or learning something new.
This is important to me because I love reading, and not enough people would prefer learning new things by reading or trying something they’ve never done before like baking, drawing, etc.
My take action project is creating an easily accessible website that will educate and show people new things they can try, books to read, and to learn about the impacts of too much screen time mentally and physically.
Our targeted audience is 5th-8th graders.
I hope that after my take action project is done people will spend more time trying to teach themselves new things and put down their devices for some time.
Eating Disorder Awareness
Lauryn and Kaitlyn know when enough screen time is enough. But other kids their age don't. Learn about the impact of MEdia overuse and try new activities other than unproductive binge-watching and taking selfies to send to an endless amount of friends you barely know.
Explore their website to learn more and discover new activities!
Hello, my name is Anne
The issue I hope to address is Internet Safety While Posting.
This is important to me because many people post things without thinking on social media, and it comes back to bite them. Social media can say that it’s private, but as soon as you post something, the matter is out of your hands. Nothing on social media is private.
My take action project is a video that will showhow posting private information and/or photos can be dangerous.
My target audience is middle schoolers-high schoolers.
I hope that after my take action project is done many people will be more careful before posting things on social media.
Healthy Self Talk
For my Media Journey Take Action Project I wanted to teach kids to think before they post on social media, because if you post without thinking, it may come back to bite you! Social media may say it's private, but as soon as you post it, it is out of your hands. Nothing posted is private. I hope after you view this you will be more careful about posting. Thanks for watching!
Hello, my name is Shivani .
The issue I hope to address is Stereotyping in ads against women.
This is important to me because I’ve seen a lot of ads that portray an image that many women can’t relate to.
My take action project is a website that will educate others about stereotyping of women and its effects.
(who is it for?) My target audience is Junior Girl Scouts, who I believe are at the age where they should understand this issue.
I hope that after my take action project is done girls will feel that they are not defined by the limits people claim they have, because they are more than that.
Taking Action with a purpose and a strong vision.
Mission Sisterhood Journey Workshop Series for Seniors
Grades: 9-10 4 meeting series See our SCHEDULE page for current schedule & registration deadlines.
Join other Girl Scout Seniors to take the Mission: Sisterhood! Journey. When it comes to sisterhood, what girls start can spiral outward and change the world. Through Mission Sisterhood! girls see the stories of sisterhood all around them and grow as leaders by widening their networks and broadening their world. Girls will earn the Sisterhood Award as they gain an understanding of sisterhood in their own lives and in the world. Girls define a sisterhood issue, create a plan for how to Take Action and put it in place!
The final steps of the Award Take Action project will be completed outside the workshop series. An essential component of a Take Action Project is that the girls take it out to the community. During the workshops, the girls will choose & work on their project their project and make a detailed plans for how to reach out to the community. You can pre purchase awards from us for your convenience, but please hold on to the award until the project is completed. The requirements will be explained in detail during the workshops.

On the Mission Sisterhood Journey the girls spend part of the time doing Sisterhood crafts. One of the crafts is jewelry making. They make a pair of earrings for themselves & a pair for a friend. We show a slightly different technique, but this video shows an easy way to make a loop for earrings that you can use if you want to make your own.
