Teaching Leadership

Junior Aide for Juniors

Prepare for the Bronze Award by strengthening your leadership skills as you earn the new GSUSA Junior Aide Award.

Picture
The Junior Aide Award builds confidence as you take the lead in planning and running an activity for younger Girl Scouts (Daisies or Brownies).*
You’ll work alongside their troop leader to observe how the troop operates and learn ways to make your activity engaging,  fun,  and educational.
After you complete the award requirements, you’ll reflect on what you learned and consider how these new leadership skills will support you as you begin your Bronze Award.

Completing the Junior Aide Award is excellent preparation for the Bronze Award. It helps Juniors learn how to lead activities for younger Girl Scouts, build confidence, and shift from participating to leading an important step before beginning a Bronze Award project.
All Workshops4girls programs are facilitated by experienced Girl Scout Highest Award experts (Bronze, Silver, and Gold).
The programs prioritize the development of skills that contribute directly to the achievement of impactful and successful Bronze Awards.

*To earn this award, the Junior must make a connection with the troop she wants to assist. It’s beneficial to make this connection before the workshop start date (with the help of the troop leader and/or the parents/guardians).
If connecting with a younger troop isn’t possible, please choose a different leadership award

Junior Aide is a new program, but what do Juniors who completed other Virtual Workshops4girls programs have to say about their experience?

I will tell my friends that it was awesome and don't be scared. This was one of the best experiences I have had as a junior.
I learned how to work with people I don't know and have a good time doing it.
My favorite part was how I got to meet a bunch of new friends I didn't know before.
My favorite part was how it taught me to be brave and believe in myself.
Starting 5th grade was hard. I felt that I had no power. One thing that I have learned is that women can speak up. I learned to stand up for myself.
I liked learning about the guest speakers lives, I liked getting to know the girls and the leaders better, I liked planning my project with my friends, and writing stories!
