MEdia Journey Take Action Project Follow Up
Thanks for sending your daughter or troop to Workshops4girls for their MEdia Journey !
As you continue with the journey by guiding them through the completion of their Take Action Project please use the resources for Take Action follow up on the Workshops4 girls website.
Look on this page http://www.workshops4girls.com/how-to-upload-your-video.html for the following info:
How girls from different troops can share files to work together.
How to get finished videos uploaded to the Workshops4girls YouTube channel.
Requirements for video PSA (public service announcement) projects.
There are many helpful pages under the TAKE ACTION PROJECTS tab.
(If you were able to attend the leader talk, I have given some of these to you.)
Including:
Progression of Take Action Projects - This page shows how the scope and requirements build as the girls move up through the project process including information on topic, suggested hours, deadlines and more. http://www.workshops4girls.com/progression-of-take-action-projects.html
TAP Planning Process – One of the webpages pages I mentioned on the final day. It gives tips on what their goals should look like & how to guide the girls using the SMART model (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time bound) and EPA criteria (expertise, pay it forward, advocacy). http://www.workshops4girls.com/tap-planning-process.html
Troop Leader Take Action Project Checklist - This is also one of the handouts I gave out to leaders and parents at our final session. It helps you to evaluate their project in terms of your own girls and your troop dynamics. http://www.workshops4girls.com/leader-evaluation-guide-for-tap.html
Silver Award information - http://www.workshops4girls.com/silver-award.html
Inspirational Projects – Looking forward to Silver or Gold or other journeys? Here are real projects from scouts and other kids in the community. http://www.workshops4girls.com/inspirational-projects.html
If you want something to give to their troop leader to "prove" they completed the journey you can have them fill out a Journey Take Action Project Final Report .
The Workshops4girls you tube channel - https://www.youtube.com/user/workshops4girls
If the girls make a video, they are not required to post it with us, but it is a great way to reach a broader audience. If your troop completes a video that they plan to show in person to groups, but not post online, you can still share it with us. We would love to use it to inspire future Media attendees. Watching other girl’s videos is one of the most popular parts of our journey !
Photo release -Each girl attending turned in a photo release allowing us to post their videos. No names or troop numbers in
videos we post. Our photo release promises anonymity. If they send it to us to show to other girls, but not post online, their
names can be in it.

Journey Award Patches Monitor, Influence, Cultivate
When are they "done" with their journey ? When do I hand out the
award patches?
The journey is complete when they meet the requirements to earn the award patches. Most of the patch requirements involve the completion of the Take Action Project. Part of the planning process was setting measurable goals. Their goals were included on their written project plan. The Take Action Project is completed and the patches can be awarded when the girls meet those goals.
Please refer to this page for detailed information about the MEdia Journey Award Patch requirements. Scroll down, it is included in the information for DAY 1. If the link doesn't work, this is the page - http://www.workshops4girls.com/for-current-media-participants---leadersparents.html
What do I do now ? I still need help ! Our girls changed their project ! Some of their plans fell through !
The girl's MEdia book has helpful tips for guiding the girls' projects. Look at page 74 - 75 for project examples. Page 76 -80 for help in reaching their target audience.
If you have any problems or questions, please contact me by email. I'm here to help. : )

Extra Badge Tie Ins
Badge Tie Ins
There are great skill building badges that the girls can earn while they work on their Journey TAP. The ones that tie in are found in the Skill Building Set for the Amaze journey. They are Digital Filmmaker, Screen writer & Public Speaker.
It’s a great way to integrate girls from your troop who may have not attended the journey. They can do a little filming or plan a presentation on a topic of their choice and earn Cadette patches while the others earn theirs by completing their Take Action Project Video and presentation.
You can find a listing of all the Cadette Patches in the Cadette Girl Guide. Here’s a PDF of that info. http://www.girlscouts.org/program/national_program_portfolio/what_cadettes_do.pdf
