Program Aide Award! Workshop for Cadettes

Prepare for the Silver Award by developing  your personal leadership style and meeting-planning skills as you earn the new GSUSA Program Aide Award.

The Program Aide Award helps Cadettes build confidence as they take the lead for younger Girl Scouts (Daisies, Brownies, or Juniors). They begin by running an activity and then progress to planning and leading a full meeting. Working alongside the troop leader, they learn how a troop operates and how to create activities that are engaging, fun, and educational. As they plan the meeting, they develop leadership skills such as creating an agenda, leading icebreakers, organizing activities, and facilitating closing reflections. They also learn the importance of backup plans when things do not go as expected.

Earning the Program Aide Award is an excellent way for Cadettes to prepare for the Silver Award. It gives them the opportunity to practice leadership in a familiar and supportive Girl Scout setting, such as meetings or events, while building the confidence and skills they need for the next step in their journey. All Workshops4girls programs are facilitated by experienced Girl Scout Highest Award experts, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold advisors, and are designed to support girls in developing the skills needed for meaningful and successful Silver Awards.

Note: To earn this award, the Cadette must make a connection with the troop she wants to assist. It’s beneficial to make this connection before the workshop start date (with the help of the troop leader and/or the parents/guardians).
If connecting with a younger troop isn’t possible, please choose a different leadership award.

Program Aide is a new program, but what do Cadettes who completed other Virtual Workshops4girls programs have to say about their experience?

I think that the overall program was wonderful and I am very happy with everything I learned.
I learned how to stand up for yourself, be honest, and accept each other for who they are.
My favorite part of this program was working with the two other girls in my troop with the Take Action project. I also liked meeting new girls from different troops.
I learned leadership skills, as well as things like elevator speeches.
My favorite parts of the program were meeting other people and planning our project.
I had a great time, and got useful feedback!
