The Silver Torch Award builds Cadettes’ confidence and strengthens their ability to work as part of a peer team and stand out as leaders. They learn to identify their strengths and personal goals, create a plan to help their group achieve its goals, delegate tasks, develop timelines, and build a toolkit for strengthening discussions, motivating their peers, and resolving conflicts. These are essential skills for preparing for a successful Silver Award project.

Completing the Silver Torch Award offers valuable preparation for the Silver Award by helping Cadettes build leadership skills, confidence, and experience working with others. As they plan and lead activities, they learn how to organize a group, communicate clearly, and solve problems — skills that are directly useful when choosing a Silver Award project focus, working with teammates, and carrying a project from start to finish.

I think that the overall program was wonderful and I am very happy with everything I learned. I learned how to stand up for yourself, be honest, and accept each other for who they are. |
My favorite part of this program was working with the two other girls in my troop with the Take Action project. I also liked meeting new girls from different troops. I learned leadership skills, as well as things like elevator speeches. |
