Senior/Ambassador Girl Scout Take Action Projects go Virtual !

Help our girls spread their messages!

Taking Action for cleaner oceans.

The dangers of plastic waste

This is my Take Action project for the Girl Scout Girltopia journey. For this project, I wanted to educate people on ocean pollution and the dangers it poses to both marine life and humans. I also wanted to bring micro-plastics, something that isn't very well known, to light. I hope that by the end of this video, you are more informed about these issues and become more mindful about plastics!  I plan to have my video featured at my school's film festival.

How to reduce your plastic use

For our Journey Take Action Project, we created an educational video. Our target audience was Brownie troops.  We met with them via Zoom to show to it and we had some fun activities for them, too.  We tied it in to the Eco Friend and Wonders of Water Journeys.
Our project goals were to:
  • teach the girls about the importance of recycling.
  • get them to reduce their plastic use and recycle more.
  • make it fun and easy for them to understand .

Taking Action for healthy relationships.

It All Starts With You - Recognizing Healthy Relationships
A website with program tools for Cadettes & leaders

Four Senior Girl Scouts, Rachael (Troop 913), Tran (Troop 2279) , Chloe (Troop 994), and Madison (Troop 1565), have created a website that focuses on the topics of bullying and relationships! The website focuses on informing Girl Scouts about the topics of bullying and all types of relationships and it can also be used as a meeting resource for Cadette Girl Scouts! The website teaches younger Girl Scouts how to identify toxic and healthy relationships and how to maintain them, and how to identify bullying and how to prevent it! These four Senior Girl Scouts created this website to ensure that these important topics were being addressed and to inform younger Girl Scouts about these two topics so they can be prepared for situations that they may come across. The target group for the website is Girl Scout Cadettes and Cadette leaders.

Taking Action for mental health

Issue Social Anxiety

Why I chose this issue.
  • Going into a new school can be scary especially if you are going into high school with students who are almost adults. When I was going into my freshman year of high school at a new school, I felt insecure and vulnerable having to share a campus with kids old enough to drive! I created my Take Action Project to ease the nerves of students who may experience social anxiety starting at a new school. Some people even get social anxiety just from starting school, not even at a new school. On this website, you will find inspiring Instagram accounts to follow, easy exercises to raise confidence, and uplifting quotes that will combat social anxiety!
  •  I'd love to know if my website helped  Part of my project was setting measurable goals.  Please take a minute to fill out my pre  and post surveys. Thanks!

Taking Action to help the homeless

 Destigmatizing Homelessness

The Girltopia Journey Take Action  is geared to all people in Orange County. It serves as a directory, an educational piece, and a starter for conversation. Our goal is to combat our homelessness crisis by attacking the stigma around it. Our site includes petitions to sign, stories from collaborators, a list of homeless shelters in OC, and information about what to do when you see a homeless person. Feel free to read, learn, and share!

Adolescent depression

For my  Mission Sisterhood Take Action Project I decided to shine a light on adolescent depression . I chose this issue because I believe  that many people underestimate the prevalence and they don’t know how to acknowledge the warning signs.  I reached out to Senior Girl Scout troops, their leaders and health professionals.  I met my project goal of showing my website to 50 people.

Friendship obstacles :Insecurities & Lack of Empathy

Note:  We started  this project before the onset of COV-ID Restrictions but asked to be included on this page because now, more than ever, it is important to reach out to support your friends. Text or call a friend right now to say how much you appreciate them. Sometimes we need someone to talk to, even if we are too afraid to ask. We all may be going through hard times, but knowing someone cares can mean the world.
Description: Shelia, Emma, and Bridget are 3 normal best friends who go to high school together. They all have insecurities that none of them know about and struggle to feel comfortable in their own skin. In the end, will they come together as friends, or let their insecurities get the best of them?
